Check-in with participants re: eliciting narratives – how’s it going? What topics/writing prompts engaged your learners? What was challenging about using this model? (Share in small groups or pairs and report out)
Discuss “Learners’ Lives” framework using The Model to discuss the components of a lesson and thematic units. Use “Talking to my Grandchildren” Unit from Stories to Tell Our Children to exemplify specific activities built around a narrative.
Ask participants for suggestions of other activities that could be derived from this narrative.
Participants provide a learner narrative that we could use to build lesson activities on.
Create a lesson activity around each of the following components:
Ask participants to do the same activity in pairs, using learner narratives they have gathered.
Next Steps – Generating more narratives and fieldtesting lessons developed from current learner narratives.
Distribute FAP Thematic Units and discuss fieldtesting.
