Welcome to Project SHINE in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Project SHINE is a multicultural, intergenerational service‑learning initiative that mobilizes a diverse group of college students to build relationships with elderly immigrants and refugees through language, literacy and citizenship tutoring.
Here at our Philadelphia branch, students are matched with small groups of adult learners, or assist in ESL classes as “coaches” alongside ESL instructors at various community organizations throughout the city, including social services agencies, senior centers, cultural associations, mosques and churches.
Use the links to the left to read more about our local community partners in Philadelphia, calendar of events, Frequently Asked Questions, a variety of useful tutoring resources and our contact information.
The main office of SHINE Philadelphia is located at Temple University, in the Center for Intergenerational Learning.
