Job Description for AmeriCorps* VISTA members to support local SHINE
programs at one of our 17 consortium campuses:
Job Description for AmeriCorps* VISTA member to
support local SHINE programs (Please note that individual job
descriptions may differ slightly at each campus location.)
The VISTA members will develop more effective
systems for student-tutor recruitment and provide on-going communication
and monitoring of community sites in which tutoring takes place. VISTA
members will assist in developing a student leadership plan and
end-of-semester reflection sessions, including designing training modules
that can be disseminated nationally. Furthermore, the VISTA participants
will enhance our efforts to ascertain senior immigrants needs by
interviewing community partners and older immigrants and organizing
instructional resources for older immigrants and refugees.
Identify key contacts in student groups and make
presentations about SHINE
Develop and implement plan to more effectively involve SHINE tutors as
student leaders.
Maintain ongoing communication with community organizations at which
tutoring takes place.
Develop materials for SHINE community partners.
Organize reflection sessions and end-of-semester celebrations.
Collect and organize evaluation materials from elder learners, students
and faculty members.
